Heritage and architecture specialist Triin Reidla has previously led UIT Festival participants through the so-called "Architect’s District" of Veeriku, uncovering hidden gems of Tartu’s postmodern architecture.
In 2023, she curated the exhibition "The Bold and the Beautiful. Estonian Private House Architecture in the 1980s" at the Museum of Estonian Architecture, which explored postmodernism in Estonian architecture more broadly. Among the eye-catching, strange, and undoubtedly bold examples featured were several distinctive homes from the Uus-Ihaste neighborhood.
This time, Triin invites you on a walk through Uus-Ihaste to explore its buildings, development projects, and urban planning through the eyes of an architectural heritage researcher.

Triin Reidla (b. 1992) is a specialist in architectural heritage, editor, PhD candidate, and lecturer at the Estonian Academy of Arts. Her research interests include the architecture of the 1980s and 1990s, circular use of building materials, and the intersections of heritage and contemporary architectural practice.
